I was thirty years old, pregnant with my first child and leaving the shores of my country of origin for the first time on an expatriate assignment. It was 35 degrees centigrade the night I flew out of Nigeria and I arrived in the Netherlands in the heart of winter, and was lodged at a beautiful hotel next to the Scheveningen beach. All I had for winter was a light spring jacket with my cotton clothes under – talk about not arriving dressed for the occasion!

I experimented a lot, had many frustrating moments as I had to style my growing baby bump and dress warmly enough to be outdoors to check out houses for permanent accommodation and settle in as quickly as possible before the baby arrived. Finding myself at a point in which everything was new, I listened to the voice of my inner style and found a sanctuary in expressing my personal dress sense. Soon enough, I became a go-to for style inspiration, skin care routines and make up tips.
